Farmers and ranchers don't get off the land very often. There is ALWAYS so much to do. And, when they come home, they have to check every blade of grass... my mom always said that's what my dad did when he returned from one of the very few overnights away. And, I think it's pretty true. I want to see every animal and all the land and check water supplies.
But, anyway... back to Switzerland! Why Switzerland? Because I got a great deal on a flight in/out of Zurich on Turkish Air. The trains in Europe provide so much flexibility that it was an easy decision to grab the flight deal and figure the rest out.
We absolutely LOVED the country! Beautiful Brown Swiss cattle. Super cool Valais Blacknose sheep. GREEN pastures as far as the eye could see. Just breathtaking.
And, you know what? People there forgot about the beauty that surrounds them just like we do. We saw majestic mountains, cows out on grass after morning milking, sheep on steep hillsides. They saw work.
I thought I'd share our travels in blog posts over the next few days/weeks as so many have asked. I'll talk about both Switzerland and Italy-- food, hotels, trains, and whatever else enters my brain to share. We're here for the straight forward commentary, right???
